Best Laid Plans 3/4/2024
I am a list maker. I will admit that right off the bat. I like to make lists so I can cross them off and say they are done. Nothing is more annoying or frustrating to a list maker than to make a list and not be able to cross things off because "things" get in the way. Because of this, I have added "Best Laid Plans Derailed" to my daily list. This way, when life happens, I can still cross an item off of my list.
Most of my "Best Laid Plans Derailed" happen at work.
I work in retail. I manage a shoe department for a well-known department store. I have been the shoe manager since 2011. It is a day-to-day experience that I love. Yes, I am one of the crazy people who loves working in retail. I love setting up the floor, maintaining the floor, encouraging and educating my associates, growing a team, making my goals, and taking care of the customers. Every day, I start off with a simple goal: make the day. This can be derailed by several things, weather for one thing, call outs for another, sudden shifts in goals, things that crop up that are unexpected. The challenge is not to break down but to face these obstacles and overcome them so I can achieve and beat the goal.
Once I get home from work, my goal is to make my dog and cat happy so I can have time to write. I have one book published, and the sequel is with the publishers. I am going through edits for book three and working on several different projects. I have my weekly list of edit, write, and ... drumroll ...market my book(s). For the later I need a website or a landing page. I have tried several websites and can't get them to work. It should be easy. (Best Laid Plans) Go to the website, create a "blog," and post it. The blog won't post. The website won't publish or share it, and they won't let me include photos. Annoying. Turn the program off and walk away before I get frustrated beyond belief and think about chucking the computer.
Anyway, this is try number four hundred fifty-eight
. (Honestly, I don't know how many tries it is.)
